***SOUTHERN CHECC 2023***
The event will be held on the weekend 23-25th Feb at the SWCC, with a variety of training:
RESCUE WORKSHOP
– This will be kindly run by SMWCRT.
– Where? SWCC
– Start time: 10:00am Saturday expecting it to be a full day with a break in the middle
– This cover a range of topics:
o Cavelink – The primary cave/surface communication equipment
o Digital Control – Keeping track of absolutely everything during a rescue
o Stretchers & Stretcher packaging
o Search strategies
– Space for 20 attendees.
SRT WORKSHOPS
– These are kindly being run by Jonty, Kieran, Emma and Christopher
– Where? The Quarry near the SWCC.
– Start time: 10:00am Saturday and Sunday
– Bring any SRT kit you or your club have for you to use.
– There are 10 spaces on this workshop per day.
SURVEY AND NAVIGATION WORKSHOP
– This workshop will kindly be run by Rostam Namaghi and Jess Eades
– Where? Meet at the SWCC
– Start time: 10:00am Saturday
– The session will include the basics of cave surveying and cover survey reading/navigation, through a task/challenge/game (? depending on your perspective) set by Rostam.
– There are spaces for 10 people on this workshop.
– You are encouraged to bring your own survey kit or borrow from your club. CHECC will have limited survey equipment to lend out for the workshop.
GEOLOGY WORKSHOP
– This is kindly being run by Andy Freem
– Where? Meet at by CHECC reception
– Start time 10am Saturday
– This workshop will be great chance to learn about cave geology from Andy who knows lots!
– We’ve not run this kind of workshop before at a CHECC event before. For it to work we need a couple of leaders confident with OFD nav to sign up. So when you email about this one please state whether you can lead or not.
– Space for 12 (two groups of 6).
